Colin Cannon is a guitarist, composer and educator. His 2016 album was ranked in the top five jazz albums of the year (AXS) and his most recent music features members from the yMusic ensemble. In addition to writing and performing, Colin is one of the most sought after private music instructors for adults in NYC. Education
Colin Cannon is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees of music. While originally self taught, Colin attended the Eastman School of Music as a “Jazz Scholar" before being selected by the Berklee College of Music's "World Scholarship Tour." He received a bachelors from Berklee where he studied with Tim Miller and Mick Goodrick (teacher of Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Bill Frisell). In later years, he pursued another area of interest and received a Master’s degree in classical composition.
Teaching
Colin Cannon has been teaching for 15 years and has helped hundreds of students reach their goals. A notable number of Colin’s students work in music professionally, semi professionally, or have gone on to do so. Others are hobbyists ready for something more serious. Colin welcomes a wide range of levels, styles and interests to his lessons.
